The teas we will be making have no caffeine\, just nature’s flavorful spices. They are used to help create heat\, infuse calmness to our minds and aid in digestion. Recipes will be provided to take home with you. \nYoga poses\, that help create a sense of wellbeing during the colder months\, are just what we need to feel grounded and at peace. At the end of this Winter appropriate class\, you will make your own spiced tea to take home with you. Please wear comfortable clothes\, bring a yoga mat and blocks. Yoga mats\, blocks and blankets will be provided if you don’t have them.

DESCRIPTION:Tai Chi Workshop: part 2\nFriday\, August 9th\n10:30 – 12:30\n$10\n8 participants maximum\nLed by Grace Franklin\n\n\nTai Chi movements are slow\, gentle\, and repetitive. They require no special equipment\, don’t take a lot of time\, and leave you feeling good! Regular practice of Tai Chi benefits balance\, flexibility\, memory\, coordination\, and vitality. \n\nLearn basic postures and fundamentals in a light-hearted but serious way.  You will learn about core principles of Tai Chi\, easy warm-up and cool-down exercises\, and a short flow form.  Class handouts will help you practice on your own at home. \nYour teacher and guide Grace Franklin has been practicing since 2008 with Living Tao lineage teachers Chungliang Al Huang\, Cielle Tewksbury and Dan Jones. \n\n\n\nFeel free to bring your lunch and stay after the tai chi class. You can also walk the labyrinths or meditation trail after class as well.

Join us as we do a morning walk in the labyrinth\, followed by learning how to make a season-appropriate Ayurvedic spiced tea in our barn. As the tea chills\, we will do a one-hour yoga practice\, consisting of yoga poses and breath work. We will enjoy some refreshing spiced tea at the end of our practice and walk away feeling cool\, calm and collected.\n\nPlease bring your yoga mat and yoga blocks if you have them. We will have some provided for use too.

Regular practice of Tai Chi benefits balance\, flexibility\, memory\, coordination\, and vitality. \n\nLearn basic postures and fundamentals in a light-hearted but serious way.  You will learn about core principles of Tai Chi\, easy warm-up and cool-down exercises\, and a short flow form.  Class handouts will help you practice on your own at home. \nYour teacher and guide Grace Franklin has been practicing since 2008 with Living Tao lineage teachers Chungliang Al Huang\, Cielle Tewksbury and Dan Jones. \n\n\n\n\n\nFeel free to bring your lunch and stay after the tai chi class. Knowing her generosity\, it wouldn’t be a surprise if you find something beautiful along the way. \nShepherd’s Corner is an ecological ministry of the Dominican Sisters of Peace that serves as a center for ecology\, spirituality and education. The property’s diverse range of habitats offers a haven for wildlife and native flora\, plus a place of peace\, natural beauty\, and spiritual refreshment. \n  \nLast year at our Earth Day planting we focused on planting emergent and prairie plants in our wetland area. Our 2024 Planting at the wetland\, of screening plants\, is made possible by a Green Funds grant through the Columbus Foundation. We are grateful that we were awarded this grant so that we might continue to establish our wetland area. \n  \nAM Time frame: 9:00 am – Noon \nWho: Participants must over the age of 15 are invited to join us for our Earth Day planting. We connect with our bodies. We connect with our minds and thoughts. We connect with our Spirit. We connect with our reality. What connections will greet us as we walk this Labyrinth this evening? \n\n\n\nLabyrinth walks are times for quiet reflection. Due to their nature\, silent walking is encouraged. Our labyrinth is located on Wengert Road\, at the second drive to the right. Please wear comfortable shoes. Everyone is welcome! No previous meditation experience or experience walking labyrinths is required. \nLearn more about labyrinths! Here’s a video and here’s another to learn more! \nRegistration\, which is required\, closes three business days prior to the program or when capacity is reached. We ask that program participants pay for the program at the time of registration. Payment can be made using the secure form on this page. You may also pay by check or cash if you prefer. If you are considering visiting\, we ask that you contact us either by calling (614) 866-4302 or by emailing and letting us know. \n\nThere are meditation trail maps that can be used. There are also quotes from Laudato Si’ that can be used to deepen your experience on the mediation trail.
