SUMMARY:Reception: Where the Trees Grow Slow- a Land Justice Art Event
DESCRIPTION:Artist’s Reception\nMarch 26\, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.\nJoin us and artist Sierra Hamilton in recognition of her Where the Trees Grow Slow art exhibition.\n Where the Trees Grow Slow (showing March 17- April 2 at Shepherd’s Corner) is the first event in our Land Justice Series where we welcome BIPOC artists\, filmmakers\, writers\, and growers to teach us\, through intentional programming\, what it means to be on and part of the land. \n\nEnjoy an evening with Sierra Hamilton\, a Columbus-based visual artist whose work integrates vibrant\, iridescent colors with the natural world.\nSierra’s work deeply expresses a healing connection to land. Her art reflects in her own words\, “a soul needs a place to sit and breathe\, to experience a moment of serenity that otherwise feels unachievable during the daily noise. A space to clear our minds; a respite to tend to our emotional selves\, protected by the shade of the towering trees and comforted by the blanket of lush undergrowth.” \n\nHors d’oeuvres will be served.

DESCRIPTION:Book Club \n6:30 – 8:00 pm\nFebruary 19th; March 19th; April 16th\, 2026\n$15/participant\n \nPlease join us for our new book club. We’re going to spend three meetings talking about Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Kimmerer. We’ll meet three Thursday evenings\, 6:30-8:00\, in the barn and enjoy tea and cookies while we talk.  \nBraiding Sweetgrass is a beautiful reflection on how humanity needs to repair its relationship with the earth by shifting towards an attitude of gratitude\, reciprocity\, and respect. Kimmerer blends scientific knowledge with Indigenous wisdom to share what plants\, and nature can teach us. There are several beautiful metaphors of braiding sweetgrass throughout the book that show the interconnectedness and reciprocity of all life on earth. \nSession 1: We’ll discuss the first section\, “Planting Sweetgrass” \nSession 2: We’ll read sections two and three\, “Tending Sweetgrass” and “Picking Sweetgrass” \nSession 3: We’ll read sections four and five\, “Braiding Sweetgrass” and “Burning Sweetgrass” \nCost: $15 for 3 sessions \n\n \n  \n\n	\n \n \n \n \n *participation waiver\n \n \n \nShepherd’s Corner is a non-profit organization providing access and programs focused on care of creation\, connection to earth\, and reflection.
